I tend to travel a lot to play golf. For years, my vehicles have been old Volkswagens and a sporty Datsun fastback coupe. These suffice for another golfer and me. A third person can be squeezed into the VWs, sharing the back seat with a bag of clubs. The Datsun is strictly a two-seater.

Work to Save Chambers Bay Tree Underway
|

David Wienecke, the golf course superintendent at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash., has taken steps to save the iconic tree at the course that was severely hacked by vandals last week. The survival of the Douglas fir is in question. A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the vandal's arrest.

Someone has attempted to chop down the only tree at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash., site of the 2010 U.S. Amateur and 2015 U.S. Open. The tree, which really isn't in play for golfers, borders the west side of the course overlooking Puget Sound.

Northwest golf icon Carl Jonson passed away on April 14. Carl was 92 years of age. Carl was a golf champion and volunteer, respected Seattle area attorney, family man, and community leader.
