The Patriot Designed by Robert Trent Jones II
Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects is part of the team creating The Patriot, home course of the Folds of Honor Foundation (formerly the Fallen Heroes Foundation). Formal groundbreaking ceremonies are scheduled for late May, with the layout's opening planned for July 4, 2009. The golf course will be the centerpiece of Stone Canyon, a residential community in Owasso, 15 minutes northeast of Tulsa.

Governors Club Unveils Newly Reconstructed 18-Hole Course Only eight months after announcing they were breaking ground on two reconstructed holes and upgraded tee boxes, the Governors Club in Brentwood, Tenn., will unveil the newly renovated Arnold Palmer Signature Course on June 22, 2007, at a members-only tournament.

Greater Kansas City Golf Classic Names Charities
The Greater Kansas City Golf Classic has announced that proceeds from the 2006 Champions Tour event will benefit three local organizations – The First Tee/Junior Golf Foundation of Greater Kansas City, First Hand Foundation, and the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. The tournament is managed by The Pride of Kansas City Foundation, and the organization has distributed over $900,000 to Kansas City-based charities in the past three years. This year's event will be held June 26 - July 2, 2006 at The Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park, Kan.

NCAA Champion Lewis to Play Arkansas LPGA Event
University of Arkansas golfer and 2007 NCAA Women's National champion Stacy Lewis has accepted a sponsor's exemption to play in the inaugural LPGA NW Arkansas Championship presented by John Q. Hammons. The Tournament will be held September 3-9 at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark.

No golfer is more beloved than Tom Kite in Austin, the Texas capitol where he grew up and made his home for the entirety of a Hall of Fame career in golf. Many of the 50,000 fans that ventured to the Hills Golf Course at the Lakeway Resort last week for the FedEx Kinko's Classic, a Champions Tour event, came to follow their local hero. Everyone in the gallery on the sun-baked track seemed to have their own personal story about the man, his feats on the course, hard work on the range and kindness outside the ropes and within the community.

Upgrades Underway at this Year's Ryder Cup Venue

A freak late-winter storm that dumped 10 inches of snow on Kentucky's Valhalla Golf Club in the second week of March may have delayed preparations for this September's Ryder Cup matches slightly but was, according to superintendent Mark Wilson, a blessing in disguise. "The reduced traffic won't hurt," he said two days after the unseasonal depression hit, "and to be honest, I've always regarded snow as the poor man's fertilizer."
