Powell to Be Honored by St. Andrews
One of the most respected woman golfers of the last 40 years is to be honored by the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Renee Powell, a pioneering player, coach, educator and goodwill ambassador will be awarded an honorary degree by the university this summer.

Champions Tour to Support Victims of Bridge Tragedy
Champions Tour officials have announced that the 3M Championship to be played at the TPC Twin Cities Golf Course in Blaine, Minn., will support local efforts related to the bridge-collapse tragedy. The 54-hole event is set for August 3-5.

French Lick Resort Set to Start First Full Season
The Donald Ross Course at French Lick (Ind.) is open to resort guests and visitors for its first full season. The course, recently named a finalist for Golf Inc. magazine's 2007 Renovation of the Year, is accompanied by a new 60,000-square-foot Sports Center, which offers a 10-station indoor driving range and indoor putting green, video swing analysis and five resurfaced tennis courts. The Sports Center is open seven days a week from noon to 8 p.m.

Michigan PGA Honors Haase
Veteran PGA professional and instructor Paul Haase might not remember every student he's ever taught, but he recalls all of his notable lessons - and not just the ones he's given. "I had my first lesson at age 14," says the recipient of the 2008 Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year award. "It was with Don Tinum at Redford (now Rogell Golf Course) in Detroit. He worked on my grip."

LGD to Break Ground on Westmoor Renovation
Lohmann Golf Designs, Inc. will break ground this August on a comprehensive renovation project at Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield, Wis. The project involves converting all 18 greens to A1 bentgrass and the layout's hodge-podge of design features will be unified under a single style inspired by William Langford.
