Work on Providence G&CC in Central Florida Continues

Work continues on the golf course at Providence Golf & Country Club in Davenport, Fla. The semiprivate layout is being built within a 2,200-acre, gated master-planned community in Polk County. The project is backed by ABD Development, an Orlando-based homebuilder.

Golf course architect Michael Dasher is crafting Providence’s semiprivate, links-style course. The par-72 track, which enjoys varying topography and several lakes, is slated to open later this year.

Upon completion, the property will feature more than 4,800 homes. Also involved is the project is an 8,000-square-foot clubhouse with a full-service restaurant, lounge and banquet space. Additional amenities will include a complete golf practice facility, two swimming pools, fitness and aquatic center, lighted tennis courts, a playground and walkways. As part of its environmentally conscious design, more than half of Providence will be designated green space and conservation areas.

ABD Development recently announced that CK Golf Partners, a newly formed affiliate of Northbrook, Ill.-based golf management company KemperSports, will manage the operations of the course near Walt Disney World.

“We are thrilled to have Providence and CK Golf as part of our national portfolio,” said KemperSports President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Skinner. “Providence has the potential to become one of the premier family recreation and golf communities in Florida.”
