Work Continues on Signature Golf Club in Colorado

Colorado Springs developer Morley Companies Family Development, LLLP, is continuing construction on the new Signature Golf Club in Fountain, Colo.

The project started with the acquisition of the former Appletree Golf Course and additional surrounding acreage in spring 2006 by Morley Companies. That course was then closed and architect Jim Childs was brought in to create a new course that will become the centerpiece of a new mixed-use residential community also being developed by Morley Companies. Work has been completed on the new layout, with grow-in now underway. The course will open to the public in spring 2009.

Morley Companies has been involved in several land development projects throughout the Colorado Springs and Fountain areas. In late May, the developer selected OB Sports Golf Management to manage the new course. "OB Sports is recognized throughout the golf industry as a leading, high-quality company. We are thrilled to have them on our team," said Jim Hamel, COO for Morley Companies. "The expertise of their executive team and their experience branding, repositioning and opening and operating quality projects made OB Sports the perfect fit for this project."

OB Sports will manage all aspects of Signature's operations including golf shop operations, food and beverage, guest services, group sales, marketing and turf care. In addition to the management services, OB Sports will help with the course's branding, positioning and re-launch new spring.

"We are pleased to be involved with Morley Companies and the new Signature Golf Club," said C.A. Roberts, principal and senior vice president of business development of OB Sports. "We are excited about unveiling this new course to golfers in the Colorado Springs region and beyond."

Located 15 minutes from downtown Colorado Springs, Signature Golf Club will feature a new a 7,300-yard, Jim Childs designed layout that will be highlighted by views of Pike's Peak and the Rocky Mountains. The course will feature a completely new routing, design and layout with 13 holes completely enlarged and redesigned from the former 18-hole Appletree layout, and five new holes on additional acreage.

Additional enhancements include a new 4,900 square foot clubhouse that will contain a golf shop, restaurant and lounge. For more information about Signature Golf Club, call 719/382-3649 or visit www.signaturegolfclub.com.
