Work Continues on Estelle Plantation

Just minutes from the Superdome and the 14 million visitors who flock to New Orleans annually, the Steve Smyers-designed Estelle Plantation Golf Course will fill a major void in the upscale, daily-fee golf course market when it opens in May 2002.

“This will be a unique, championship product in this market,” said developer Tac Carrere. “The real quality courses within a 45-minute drive of New Orleans are mostly private. This will help make New Orleans a golf destination.”

Construction of the 18-hole, 7,300-yard layout began in January 2001, according to Carrere, president of Estelle Golf LLC. The development includes the course and a surrounding gated community in Jefferson Parish. Carrere plans to name a contractor, head professional, superintendent and professional management firm in the near future.
