Woods Plans Oxygen Room & Practice Course

Tiger Woods' return to competition will happen at next week's Memorial Tournament in Ohio.

Citing an injury, Woods hasn't played competitive golf since he withdrew during the final round of the Players Championship on May 9. He was later diagnosed with an inflamed joint in his neck for which he's now receiving treatment.

Woods is the Memorial's defending champion, beating Jim Furyk by a stroke in 2009. The restricted-field event, set for the week of May 31 - June 6, guarantees invitations only to the top-75 players on the previous year's money list.

Woods plans to join Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker, Rory McIlroy, Kenny Perry, Zach Johnson and Sean O'Hair in a nine-hole Skins Game on Wednesday of tournament week.

Woods Building Big House in Jupiter Island

In other Tiger news, reports indicate that the game's still-No.-1-ranked player is building an oxygen therapy room along with golf-related facilities on part of a 12-acre property he owns in Jupiter Island, Fla.

Through his attorney, Woods has filed permit requests for a practice golf course, a series of pools and an oxygen-therapy room for the 9,000-square-foot home, according to www.TCPalm.com (http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2010/may/24/tiger-woods-jupiter-island-home-to-have-oxygen/).

Paperwork filed with the county indicates the pools are to be done by August, while the oxygen-therapy room and golf course work could take a year before receiving approval. The practice course is slated to be built by Georgia-based Medalist Golf, Inc., which designed the exclusive McArthur Golf Course in Hobe Sound, Fla.

Other plans for the waterfront mansion include a kiddie pool, lap pool, dive pool and reflection pool and a water fountain.

Elin Seeks Big Settlement

On Saturday, the New York Daily News reported that Woods' estranged wife Elin Nordegren, who has a home across the Intracoastal Waterway from the home Woods is building, is seeking $750 million in a divorce settlement.
