Woodland Golf Course to Celebrate 75th Anniversary

The Cincinnati Recreation Commission (“CRC”) and Billy Casper Golf (“BCG”) have announced that Woodland Golf Course is celebrating its 75th year with preferred rates and commemorative events this weekend, Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.
To mark the milestone, Woodland will offer green fees of $.75 per hole – $6.75 for 9 holes and $13.50 for 18 – and 75-cent draft beers and hot dogs, as well as a variety of contests and giveaways.
“Our anniversary is a wonderful opportunity for us to thank Cincinnati’s golfers for their support over the years,” says Kris Walker, Woodland’s head golf pro. “We are looking forward to players enjoying the commemorative rates and all of the other special activities and contests being offered this weekend.”
Bill Lewis, Jr. –one of Woodland’s first golf pros and the son of the course’s founder and owner – will be on hand at noon on Sunday, July 30, to reminisce about the early years and the course’s unique history. Bill Lewis, Sr. quit his job with the postal service and opened the golf course with his son in 1931. Lewis enjoyed success at Woodland for 42 years, before the family sold it to the city for public recreation in 1973.
Woodland ’s nine-hole routing is ideal for families and friends seeking an enjoyable day on the links. For more information about the 75th anniversary, call 513/451-4408 or visit www.cincygolf.org.
