Whitetail Junior Invitational Draws Kids from across Northwest

Whitetail Club in McCall, Idaho, is hosting the third-annual Whitetail Junior Invitational golf tournament October 7-9. According to Todd Bindner, Whitetail Club's head professional, the Whitetail Junior Invitational is one of the finest junior tournaments in the Northwest. "It's a very competitive tournament on what's considered one of the top private golf courses in the country, and the weather's beautiful here this time of year," he says.

The event, which costs $150 to enter, includes a practice round and two tournament rounds of golf, as well as a four-hole "horserace" derby and a tee prize. All players will complete 36 holes (i.e., no cuts are made), and they'll enjoy lunch at Whitetail Club's Golf Grille on Saturday and Sunday.

Registration and practice rounds kick off the tournament on Friday October 7. Round 1 begins at 11 a.m. Saturday October 8, and the horserace starts at 5 p.m. that evening. Round two tees off at 10:30 a.m. Sunday October 9, and Whitetail Club will host an awards ceremony immediately afterwards. The boys and girls division winners will receive trophies, and the top three players in both divisions will receive prizes.

Boys and girls ages 13 to 18 are eligible to enter. Boys must have a handicap of 15 or less and girls must have a handicap of 25 or less. Players may use caddies, but parents are not allowed to caddy. All players, caddies and spectators must respect Whitetail Club's dress code - shorts mid-thigh length, collared shirts, and no denim.

To sign up for the tournament, call Whitetail Club's pro shop at 208/630-0211. Lodging is available at Shore Lodge; call 800/657-6464 for reservations.

Resting on 1,300 acres overlooking Payette Lake, Whitetail Club is the area's only private club and community. Designed by Roger Packard and two-time U.S. Open winner Andy North, Whitetail is ranked by Golfweek Magazine as a Top 100 Best Courses to Play in America.

The facility also contains a driving range, putting practice greens, chipping greens and refreshment centers. Its clubhouse is home to a pro shop, restaurant, lounge, outdoor patio, locker rooms, swing analysis and training equipment, bag storage and panoramic views.
