Washington National Golf Club
Located just east of Auburn, southeast of Seattle, Washington National Golf Club is one of the Northwest’s newest facilities. Opened in August 2000, the 18-hole layout is a welcome addition to the Puget Sound golf scene. The course was designed by John Fought and Orrin Vincent II, and provides a supreme test for all concerned.
Owned by OB Sports, LLC and managed by the Heritage Golf Group, the facility is the home course for both the University of Washington’s men’s and women’s golf teams. The layout crosses gently rolling ground and stretches a remarkable 7,304 yards from the back tees. From here, it has a 75.6 rating and 141 slope. There are four other sets of tees for golfers of varying abilities.
Among the most salient features of Washington National is its bunkers, which come in all shapes and sizes. These sandy expanses lurk alongside fairways, near greens and in many target zones. Besides the white-sand variety, the layout boasts a daunting array of transition bunkers that provide a tawny counterpoint to these lush fairways, much like those found in desert courses.
Washington National, with its exceptional course, massive practice facility, and capability to host and serve large groups, is an ideal place for private tournaments and corporate outings. For more information or to book a tee time, call 253/333-5000 or go online to www.wngolf.com.
