Vermontís First Executive Course to Debut
With the help of long-time friend Steve Kolvoord, John Lang has turned his familyís Essex farm into what is believed to be the only executive-style golf course in Vermont. The facility is slated to open in June 2002.
The developers are promoting the high-end, 4,100-yard, par-60 layout for golfers who prefer the quick rounds and abbreviated configuration offered by executive tracks. Rather than the usual five hours often needed to play an 18-hole course, The Links at Lang Farm should only require three hours or less.
Designed by Arizona architect, Mike Asmundson, The Links at Lang Farm boasts white-sand bunkers and other features of championship-caliber courses. Asmundsonís resumŤ includes the high-end Coeur díAlene Resort Course, the restoration of the historic Alister MacKenzie Golf Course at Haggin Oaks in California, and Chileís Brisas de Chicureo. Lang told the Burlington Free Press that his goal with the Lang Farm layout was to mirror the quality of the Nicklaus-designed Vermont National, only in a ďsmaller package.Ē
