Venetian Bay Set to Open in January

Venetian Bay Golf Club, situated just 20 minutes south of Daytona Beach, Fla., will open for member play on January 4, 2008. The golf course is the cornerstone of an 1,800-home, Mediterranean-themed community being developed by The Johnson Group.
"The unveiling of this golf course marks a milestone in the evolution of the Venetian Bay community," said Jerry Johnson, senior president and CEO of The Johnson Group. "We are committed to creating a premier golf and membership experience in Central Florida and look forward to launching 2008 with the opening of Venetian Bay Golf Club."
Designed by George Clifton, a member of Florida-based Clifton, Ezell & Clifton Golf Design Group, the par-72 layout features mature woodlands, hollows and strategically placed sand traps and water features. A 7,500-square-foot, full-service clubhouse, inspired by the same Tuscan motif of the surrounding residential community, is also nearing completion. Slated to open soon after the golf course in late January 2008, Venetian Bay's clubhouse will contain a golf shop, locker rooms, meeting rooms and private dining areas, including an outdoor seating area with views of the course.
The Venetian Bay community involves a variety of homes, townhomes, villas and condominiums; a Town Center with shops and restaurants; a family-oriented beach and swim club; more than 20 miles of nature trails as well as a park with athletic fields and playground equipment. Approximately half of the land at the pedestrian-friendly Venetian Bay will be maintained as green space.
KemperSports, manager of the 18-hole Venetian Bay Golf Club, will also operate the beach and swim club and a new tennis complex. David Buth is the club's general manager.
