Two Huge Projects Planned for Orlando Area
Two massive mixed-use projects are planned for properties located south of Orlando International Airport. Eagle Creek Development, a wholly-owned subsidiary of London-based Emerson International, is in the process of acquiring construction permits for a 1,217-acre project west of the Central Florida GreeneWay (State Route 417). Meanwhile, the Ginn Company is seeking permits for Magnolia Creek, a 1,713-acre project just to the east of Eagle Creek.
The Eagle Creek project involves an 18-hole golf course along with 2,850 residential units, 50,000 square feet of office space, 150,000 square feet of retail and service space, and sundry other amenities.
Magnolia Creek is even more ambitious. The two-phase project planned by Bobby Ginn includes 3,500 single- and multi-family homes, three golf courses, hotels and commercial spaces. That project borders the southern end of Disney’s Celebration community. Eagle Creek is slightly ahead of Magnolia Creek in the development process.
Local experts are concerned about the development surge south of Orlando International Airport and in northern Osceola County. “That’s a potful of projects,” Dean Fritchen, a senior office-industrial broker in the Winter Park office of Arvida Commercial Realty Services Commercial Division, told GlobeSt.com, an online real estate service. “You have to wonder where all these new residents and businesses will be coming from 10 years down the line.”
