Troon Golf to Manage Running Horse |
|
Troon Golf has announced it will manage the operations at Running Horse Golf & Country Club in Fresno. Currently under development, the course in the San Joaquin Valley is scheduled to be open in 2006.
The 18-hole golf course, the centerpiece of a 464-acre development, will be a co-design of Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II of Nicklaus Design. The layout will incorporate water features and undulating terrain, while multiple tees will stretch it from 5,200 to over 7,000 yards. Among the testy par-3s will be an island green on the 15th hole. Northwest winds come into play on many holes.
"We are thrilled for the opportunity to work with Running Horse Golf & Country Club," said Hud Hinton, president and COO, Troon Golf. "Members can be assured that our management philosophies and superb playing conditions will contribute positively to their private club experience."
The gated community will consist of 780 home sites, with the majority overlooking the golf course. Located minutes from major California thoroughfares, the community will feature a 65,000-square-foot retail shopping center.
"After selecting Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II, with their amazing collective record of success in golf course design, we knew we wanted the absolute best in golf course management, as well," said managing partner Tom O'Meara. "It was an obvious choice when selecting the team at Troon Golf to become our management partner. Not only are they a world-class organization but they offer our members a tremendous global reciprocal playing program."
