Sweetwater Completes Multi-Million Dollar Enhancements
Sweetwater Golf & Country Club in Longwood, Fla., has completed a four-year, multi-million dollar enhancement. The capital improvement program included lengthening the par-72 golf course to 6,771 yards, enhancing the practice facilities, and adding new golf carts with GPS yardage systems.
Under the direction of club president Walter Judge, the improvements involved remodeling the Highlands Clubhouse and adding banquet and food-service facilities, as well as upgrades to the Balmoral Racquet Club’s tennis facilities. Also involved was upgrading the course’s landscaping and adding new tees.
Recently ranked by Orlando Business Journal as the largest country club in Central Florida based on the number of members, Sweetwater Golf & Country Club is located across from Wekiwa Springs State Park. The club boasts eight Har-Tru clay tennis courts, the Highlands of Sweetwater restaurant, the Fife & Drum Pub, Carnoustie Café, Loch Lomand swimming center, a large pro shop, a golf academy with multiple practice areas, and meeting and banquet rooms that can accommodate over 500 guests. Sweetwater’s landscaped grounds feature fountains, oaks, pines, lakes, and a patio area with room for 250 guests.
Sweetwater Golf & Country Club is now conducting a membership drive and allowing prospective members to experience its offerings. During this period, non-members may play the course, dine at its restaurants, and visit the pub. Banquet facilities, which feature views of the golf course, may be reserved by members or non-members for weddings, corporate meetings, parties, luncheons, galas, holiday parties and fundraisers.
