Studio Adrienne Offers 'Pilates for Golfers' Class

Adrienne Silveira of Studio Adrienne in Portland, Ore., will stretch the minds of golfers interested in learning new training methods to improve their golfing. Silveira, a Master Pilates Instructor, will lead a one-hour clinic from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Studio Adrienne in downtown Portland at 621 SW Alder Street, Ste. 303 on Wednesday, March 14th, 2007. The seminar is designed to educate golfers about the positive impact that Pilates can have on their golf game. Tickets to the seminar are $10 and payable by cash or check at the door. Clinic participants receive a one-hour overview and Pilates demonstration plus a voucher for one free post-clinic private Pilates session at Studio Adrienne - a $70 value.
"Every athlete can benefit from Pilates," says Silveira. "It increases flexibility, strengthens the core and assists with posture and stability. Coupling Pilates with another form of exercise is a potent combination." Golfers use core strength to drive the ball and the sport requires flexibility to avoid injury and allow a full range of motion. Golfers can reap the rewards of both strength and limberness by incorporating Pilates into their golf routine.
Silveira, who is of Cuban and Spanish descent, grew up primarily in Latin America. She eventually landed in the United States where she went into the academic world as well as fashion modeling. While working in New Orleans she met her husband and they decided to relocate to Seattle, Wash., about 15 years ago. The couple moved to Portland, where she currently lives.
Looking for a way to express her love of beauty and fitness, Silveira enrolled in a Master Pilates program and was coached by Romana Kryzanowska, a protégée of Pilates founder Joseph Pilates, as well as Kryzanowska's daughter, Sari Mejia Santo. She received her certification in authentic classical Pilates and draws from her past experiences as a dancer, yoga and movement instructor.
Silveira’s March 14th "Pilates for Golfers" clinic will be held at Studio Adrienne located at 621 SW Alder Street, Ste. 303 Portland, OR 97205. Prior registration is encouraged and can be made by calling Studio Adrienne at 503/351-5628. Golfers who register for the clinic will be eligible for a discount on a special golfers package of lessons only available the night of the clinic.
