Sorenstam to Grant Ailing Girl's Wish

LPGA Hall-of-Fame player Annika Sorenstam is a National Ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. On Thursday, the Swedish star is going to grant a wish to an ailing 14-year-old girl from Grosse Ile, Mich.
Molly Esordi, who has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, is an avid golfer who competed for the Grosse Ile High girls' golf team in the fall. She earned all-league first-team honors as a freshman. One of Molly's life-long dreams was to meet and play golf with her heroine, Annika Sorenstam. She's about to have that dream come true.
Molly and her family will spend the day with Annika at the ANNIKA Academy in Reunion, Fla. The day's activities include a tour of the academy, lunch, a one-on-one clinic and some private tee time on January 31.
The ANNIKA Foundation provides inspiration to children in need through critical financial, physical, and emotional support, and also helps aspiring junior golfers follow their dreams through scholarships, education, and new playing opportunities. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Born in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 67 chapters in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more than 161,000 wishes in the U.S. since inception.
