Shin Wins in New York

Jiyai Shin nabbed her fifth title in 11 months. The South Korean shot a 1-under 71 in the rain-swept final round of the Wegmans LPGA tournament in Rochester, N.Y., to win by seven shots.

Shin finished at 17-under 271 in the 72-hole event at 6,365-yard Locust Hill Country Club and earned $300,000, which puts her atop the LPGA money list with over $1 million.

Kristy McPherson and Yani Tseng both shot 66s to tie for second

Shin dedicated the win to her mother, who was killed in an auto accident in 2004. "I have my mother's picture in my course book," she said.

"I am very happy to win," Shin added. "As the rain came it was very hard to keep concentration. Actually the rain helped me win because the gap with the others was quite big before the final round.

"As I played with [Morgan] Pressel, many Americans in the gallery followed us, which was very interesting. This victory is very meaningful because it was a great chance to let them know me in the United States."
