|
Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday is now accepting entries for the seventh annual Veterans Golf Classic, to be held May 21 through May 24, 2006, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Expected to attract more than 450 golfers from across the United States, the 54-hole tournament is open to all current and former members of the military and will be played on 12 of the Grand Strand's finest golf courses.
The two-person team event features a different format each day with golfers arranged in flights based on their combined team handicap. To be eligible for the tournament, at least one team member must be a veteran or active member of the military. For all new participants, the entry fee is $230 prior to April 10th. Past players have until April 10th to enter at their discounted entry fee. After April 10th, the entry fee will increase to $250 for all golfers. The entry fee includes three rounds of competitive golf, nightly activities for participants and a guest, awards and prizes.
"We are proud to continue the tradition of honoring veterans from across the nation," said Steve Mays, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday tournament director. "The Veterans Golf Classic has grown during the last few years and we expect this year's event to be an unprecedented success."
Courses participating in the tournament include Angels Trace, Crow Creek, Indian Wells, Lions Paw, The Long Bay Club, Man O War, Myrtle Beach National, Myrtlewood Golf Club, Sea Trail, Shaftesbury Glen, Wachesaw Plantation East, Whispering Pines Golf Course and The Wizard.
"I will be in attendance with other Legionaires from across the country to help bring home 'The Cup' for the American Legion," said Jimmy Hawk, State Adjutant, South Carolina American Legion.
