Reunion Resort To Unveil Two New Courses in July

Mention the names Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson and the golf world pays close attention. In July 2003, golfers will be reunited with these two greats when the new courses Palmer and Watson have designed separately at the Reunion Resort & Club of Orlando open for play.
"These two great champions are also great golf course designers and we believe their courses will make Reunion Resort & Club of Orlando one of the most desirable places in the world to live and play," said Bobby Ginn, president and CEO of The Ginn Company, a Celebration, Florida-based developer of large-scale, master-planned resorts and recreation-oriented communities.
Utilizing a combination of natural rolling terrain with mature trees, natural preserve areas and extensive landscaping, the 6,930-yard Arnold Palmer-designed Legacy course may become one of the nation's best resort layouts. "When you combine and exceptional piece of land and a superb development plan, the Legacy Course is truly a gem," says Arnold Palmer, whose Palmer Design Company has been involved in more then 350 projects worldwide, with more then 150 golf courses open for play in 36 states and 20 countries.
The first Tom Watson-designed course in Florida, the Independence Course at Reunion Resort & Club of Orlando is a traditional parkland-style layout with a windswept, native look. The un-Florida-like undulating terrain features elevation variations as much as 45 feet from tee to green. Highlighted by fast, firm and wide fairways, a variety of strategically placed bunkers and large greens, the 7,257-yard Independence Course is as much about strategy as it is about length.
"I designed and oversaw the construction of the Independence Course so the golfer will experience the three fundamental requirements of an outstanding course: beauty, variety and challenge," says Watson, whose other notable designs include Cassique in Kiawah Island, S.C., and the National Golf Club of Kansas City in Kansas City, Mo.
In addition to the opening of the golf courses, Reunion Resort & Club will also debut Seven Eagles Townhomes, 84 luxury one- and three-bedroom town homes. Seven Eagles overlooks both golf courses and the picturesque Davenport Creek nature preserve.
