Regional Golf Associations Announce New Fundraising Event
A partnership between the Pacific Northwest Golf Association, Oregon Golf Association, Pacific Northwest Section PGA, Oregon State University, University of Oregon and GoodPlay Media has created the Civil War Golf Event 2010, a new fundraising event to benefit the UO and OSU Alumni Association's Scholarship Funds and Oregon Junior Golf.
Alumni, students, and supporters representing the two universities will compete against each other to raise the most in total donations from November 18 through December 4 (the day of OU-OSU's annual Civil War football game).
Golfers may register for the event online at www.RivalryGolf4Charity.com/CivilWar.com and play on any golf course anywhere in the country, and play as many times as desired. The entry fee is $50, plus the cost of greens fees, if applicable. Golfers may reserve specially discounted tee times online at www.PlayGolf4Charity.com at more than 2,300 courses nationwide. Participating golfers are encouraged to post their score(s) online, interact with others via embedded social media connections and view the real-time leader scoreboard. The university that raises the most in charitable funds during the event will be announced at halftime of the Civil War football game.
The Pacific Northwest Section PGA will also host regional single-day Civil War 2010 golf tournaments at participating golf courses in Oregon throughout the event. Golfers can access the event calendar on the www.rivalrygolf4charrity.com/civilwar.com web page to see participating courses, event dates and make advanced reservations.
"We encourage our alumni, students and friends to participate in the Civil War Golf Event 2010 regardless of skill level and geographic proximity," said Dan Rodriquez, Director of Alumni Relations for the University of Oregon. "The objective is to facilitate maximum participation across the country and to raise money for our school's scholarship program."
Eric Schoenstein, former OSU Alumni Association board president added, "This tournament raises money for student scholarships while giving us a fun competition that helps us bond with other Oregon Staters and generate Civil War excitement."
Every participant who registers will receive a $10 Golfsmith cash card, redeemable online or at any Golfsmith retail store, and a commemorative Civil War 2010 golf hat.
