Rain Continues as Factor at Puerto Rico Open
The first round of Puerto Rico Open, a $3.5 million PGA Tour event that's running opposite the WGC-CA Championship in Miami, was once again suspended due to heavy rains and darkness.
About 6 inches had hit the already saturated Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico Friday, with many areas of the course still bearing puddles that resulted in the players utilizing the lift-clean-and-place rule.
Unlike Thursday, when only 18 players had teed off, more players initiated their first rounds Friday but there were still dozens who had yet to start.
Skip Kendall still "leads" the tournament after going 5-under through seven holes Thursday thanks to a holed-out 7-iron on the par-4 10th for an eagle.
Round 1 is slated to resume Saturday at 7:10 a.m. ET. The forecast for the weekend shows balmier and clearer weather. A Monday finish is likely.
