Prugh Wins WSGA Men’s Amateur
Alex Prugh of Spokane, Wash., continued his strong play, closing with a final round 3-under par 69 to finish at 10-under-par 278 to win the 79th WSGA Men’s State Amateur Championship. The tournament was held at The Links at Moses Pointe, a 7,278-yard, par-72 layout in Moses Lake, Wash.
In the early part of the afternoon, Prugh was given a slight scare when Josh Immordino of Bellingham, Wash., birdied two out of the first six holes he played to move within two strokes of the lead. But Prugh turned up the heat the rest of the round, making three birdies, while Immordino fell behind after carding two double-bogeys.
Zack Bixler of Richland, Wash., continued his strong play, staying within two strokes of Prugh the entire day to finish at 8-under 280. Prugh was the only player in the field to shoot under par in every round.
