Pros & Amateurs Finish in a Tie at 59th Hudson Cup Matches

The 59th edition of the Hudson Cup Matches finished on Friday. Over the two days of Ryder Cup-style competition, the best professionals in the Pacific Northwest finished in a 10-to-10 tie with the region's best amateurs.
On the first day of best-ball, both teams earned five points apiece. The 2007 matches, held at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland, resulted in the first tie conclusion since 1971.
In the 16th edition of the Senior Hudson Cup, the professionals won decisively against the amateurs with a two-day margin of 14 to 6. The senior pros forged an 8 to 2 lead after the first round of best-ball matches and never looked back.
The Charles Congdon Award for the top amateur went to Zack Shriver, while the Larry Lamberger Award for the top professional was presented to Ryan Benzel. In the Senior Matches, the Bill Eggers Award was presented to amateur Randy Mahar while Louie Runge received the Bob McKendrick Award as the top pro.
