PGA Tour Announces 2010 FedEx Cup Schedule
The 2010 PGA Tour FedEx Cup schedule will again feature 37 regular season events followed by four PGA Tour Playoff events as part of the FedEx Cup.
The FedEx Cup season will open the week of January 4-10 with the SBS Championship at Kapalua, Hawaii, and will conclude the week of September 20-26 at the Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola in Atlanta.
"We are very pleased to announce our schedule thru the 2010 FedEx Cup season," said PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem. "Despite difficult economic times we once again have a full slate of events and look forward to yet another exciting season for the PGA Tour."
Among changes to the schedule are the debut of the Greenbrier Classic to be played the week of July 26-August 1 at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.V.; a new date for the Turning Stone Resort Championship, which will transition from the Fall Series to the FedEx Cup the week of August 2-8; and a move for the Reno-Tahoe Open to an earlier date, the week of July 12-18 opposite the Open Championship in Scotland.
Four events will be held on new courses in 2010:
* The AT&T National moves to the Philadelphia area for the next two years at Aronimink GC.
* The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am will see Monterey Peninsula CC join the rotation, replacing Poppy Hills.
* The Valero Texas Open will be held at the new TPC San Antonio for the first time.
* The RBC Canadian Open will be held in suburban Toronto at St. George's G&CC for the first time since 1968
The regular season will conclude with the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, NC (August 16-22), with the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup beginning the following week with the Barclays returning to Ridgewood CC in Paramus, N.J.
The PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup will assume the same sequence as this year's with the Barclays leading off to be followed in consecutive weeks by the Deutsche Bank Championship (August 30-September 6) and the BMW Championship (September 7-12). There will again be an off-week at the conclusion of the BMW Championship before the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings advance to the Tour Championship.
The U.S. Open will return to Pebble Beach (June 14-20), with the Open Championship moving to the Old Course at St. Andrews (July 12-18) and the PGA Championship to Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis. (August 9-15).
The Fall Series events will be announced at a later date.
