Oregon Set to Defend in PNGA Cup Matches

The second year of the PNGA Cup matches will be held at one of the Pacific Northwest Golf Association's founding clubs, Victoria Golf Club in Victoria B.C., starting on May 3.
In 2006, the last hole at the Seattle Golf Club in Seattle, Wash., proved to be the decisive factor in the inaugural PNGA Cup Matches. The Oregon Golf Association, led by honorary co-captains Mary Budke (2005 PNGA Hall of Fame inductee) and Denny Taylor of Gladstone, Ore., emerged as the winner.
Each 12-member team from British Columbia Golf Association, the Idaho Golf Association, the Oregon Golf Association and the Washington State Golf Association consist of eight men and four women. Each team includes four men mid-amateur's 25 or older, two men 40 years or older, two senior men 55 years or older, two women-mid-amateurs 25 years or older, and two senior women 50 years or older.
The format involves four-ball and foursome matches the first day and single matches on the second and final days. With three matches for each player, the championship allows each player to compete against others from each of the associations.
"We are looking forward to another highly competitive event," said Dr. Jack Lamey, a member of the PNGA Board of Directors and founder of the event. "Bringing the best players and association representatives from around the Northwest proved to be a very positive experience last year, it also created new friendships and camaraderie amongst all the teams."
