Oki Golf Acquires Harbour Pointe
Oki Golf has announced its purchase of Harbour Pointe Golf Club. With a total of 10 courses now under its umbrella, the acquisition positions Oki Golf as the largest golf stakeholder in the Pacific Northwest. Terms of the sale were not released.
Located in north of Seattle in the growing city of Mukilteo, Harbour Pointe joins Oki Golf's portfolio of Washington state properties that includes eight daily-fee facilities: the Golf Club at Newcastle (Newcastle), Washington National Golf Club (Auburn), Trophy Lake Golf & Casting (Port Orchard), the Golf Club at Echo Falls (Snohomish), the Golf Club at Hawks Prairie (Lacey). The company also owns and operates two private clubs: Indian Summer Golf & Country Club (Olympia), and the Plateau Club (Sammamish). All facilities are located within a 60-mile radius up and down the I-5 corridor.
Harbour Pointe features an 18-hole, 6,878-yard layout designed by Arthur Hills. Shortly after opening in 1991, the facility was named "Best New Public Golf Course" by Golf Digest. In 1996, it was named by the same magazine as the "Second Best Golf Facility in the Northwest." The course includes two distinctive nines that each offer views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The front nine is relatively flat with water on nearly every hole, while the back is set among rolling hills lined by towering Evergreen trees.
"Acquiring Harbour Pointe is a tremendous step for Oki Golf, both as a brand and as an industry leader in the Northwest," said Nancy Cho, President and CEO of Oki Golf. "This addition is a perfect fit for the Oki Golf vision. Since purchasing our first course in 1994, we've been committed to creating an incomparable golf experience for our guests. By having Harbour Pointe in the portfolio, we'll be able to further enhance the 'Oki Golf Experience' - based on 'best of class' facilities, inspired customer service and exceptional value. It also provides geographic balance to the portfolio complimenting our North Sound presence by joining the Golf Club at Echo Falls and Oki Golf's flagship property, the Golf Club at Newcastle."
"I have mixed emotions regarding the sale of the Harbour Pointe Golf Course, including some sadness," said Ed Hansen, president of Golf Northwest, Inc., the general partner of the previous owner, Harbor Pointe Golf Associates, LP. "I am proud of the quality and success of the course we built and the friendly, customer-oriented, golf club we established. At the same time, I am confident that Oki Golf will continue to maintain a top-quality golf experience for golfers and will build upon the foundation we established to assure the continued success and improvement of Harbour Pointe."
