Nicklaus Course Coming to Horseshoe Bay

The Horseshoe Bay Resort in Texas will soon be receiving a Jack Nicklaus-designed course. Construction on the new layout may commence as early as this summer, with its completion in 2002 or ‘03. The new layout will be the fourth at this upscale community located 40 miles northwest of Austin.

In announcing the Nicklaus course, Horseshoe Bay Resort, Inc. also unveiled plans for 600 homes in the new Bayview subdivision. In addition, the community will be receiving a 350-room hotel and a 35,000-square-foot conference center. The latter components, located within the new Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, will be managed by the Marriott Corp.

The Bayview homesites will include 450 large lots and 150 patio-sized lots. House prices will range from $350,000 to more than $1 million. Horseshoe Bay now has a population of about 1,800, including many high-profile residents. The community counts among its residents former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, retired astronaut Jim Lovell, AOL co-founder Marc Serif, and sausage baron Jerry Owens.
