Moore to Lead U.S. Palmer Cup Team

Jonathan Moore of Oklahoma State, Brian Harman and Chris Kirk of Georgia, Billy Horschel of Florida, Dustin Johnson of Coastal Carolina, Luke List of Vanderbilt, Jamie Lovemark of Southern California, and Webb Simpson of Wake Forest have been selected to represent the United States in the 2007 Palmer Cup. The annual event will be held June 7-8 at Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland.
The Palmer Cup is an annual Ryder Cup-style competition between American collegiate golfers and their counterparts from Europe. The American squad leads the series, 5-4-1.
With his selection, Moore, a Vancouver, Wash., native, becomes the eighth different Cowboy selected to compete in the event. Moore, the reigning NCAA champion, is now competing as an amateur in the Verizon Heritage, a PGA Tour stop at Harbour Town Golf Club on Hilton Head Island, S.C. He shot a 76 on Thursday.
The American team will be led by OSU head coach Mike McGraw. "I am honored to coach in the Palmer Cup and I am especially excited that I will have the opportunity to coach one of my very own players," McGraw said.
A semifinalist for the 2007 Ben Hogan Award, Moore is building an extensive international resumé, having already competed last fall for the U.S. at the World Amateur Team Championship in South Africa. He will also play for the American squad at the Copa de last Americas Championship in Ontario, Canada from June 20-23.
