Mallon Takes Canadian Women’s Open

It was a blustery day in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, at the Canadian Women’s Open this past Sunday. Meg Mallon took advantage of the 30 mph winds at this weekend’s tournament played at the 6,435-yard, par-72 Summerlea Golf and Country Club.

Mallon was one stroke behind Scotland’s Catriona Matthew entering the final round, but the conditions got the best of Matthew. She was unable to recover after a triple bogey on the 12th hole and finished in second place with a 1-under-287, tying Michele Redman, and Michelle Ellis.

Even though Mallon faired better than the others, she struggled with the conditions hitting three bogeys in the last seven holes and ending the day with a 73. Her win, worth $180,000, was her first LPGA victory in two years.
