Love & Tommy Fazio Architects for New Preserve at Greyson
Mountaineer Land Group, developer of The Preserve at Greyson in Harrisburg, N.C., has announced that Tommy Fazio is the golf course designer for The Falls at Greyson Golf & Country Club private 18-hole course and that Davis Love III is the designer of the new Falls at Greyson resort 18-hole course. The veteran PGA touring professional and Charlotte native will work alongside his brother Mark Love and team members Paul Cowley and Bob Spence.
Collaborating for the first time, Fazio and Love are creating two world-class golf courses at The Falls at Greyson, a lifestyle destination community which spans approximately 1,200 acres in both Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties and the town of Harrisburg. Strategically placed tee-boxes and rolling fairways follow the natural contours of the land, where heritage trees, winding creeks and rock formations have been preserved.
According to Greg Mascaro, managing partner for Mountaineer Land Group, construction of The Falls at Greyson golf courses is underway, with both course designers “respectfully planning each hole to enhance and maintain the absolute beauty and integrity of the land.”
The Fazio private course is scheduled to open spring 2006, with the Love resort course following later that fall.
For the last seven years, Tommy has worked closely with real estate developer Donald Trump as his in-house golf course designer/builder. Tommy Fazio grew up working in the family business with his father, Jim, and uncle Tom, designing and building golf courses. He collaborated with touring pro Nick Price to create Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. As Mascaro explained, “Fazio’s hands-on approach to course design and construction will assure the private course members and guests an unforgettable experience every time they play.”
As Fazio commented, “The Falls at Greyson is situated on a truly spectacular piece of property routed with dramatic elevation changes, meandering creeks, and beautiful, mature hardwoods. The course will offer golfers at all skill levels the opportunity to enjoy the game of golf and nature at its very best.”
Former PGA champion Davis Love III and Love Golf Design has earned the reputation for designing and building quality golf courses that reflect the classic traditions of the game. As Mascaro stated, “Love Golf Design blends sheer artistry and incredible vision with a common sense design approach. Love Golf Design will create a most memorable course at The Falls at Greyson that can be enjoyed by every level of golfer, for a lifetime.”
“Having the opportunity and trust to create a golf course that will stand the test of time is an awesome responsibility. We believe in making the most of our opportunities,” stated Love.
The Falls at Greyson Golf & Country Club is now accepting reservations. Country club membership privileges, which will include golf at both courses, driving range, spa/fitness, swim facilities, tennis, pro shop and World Golf Academy discounts, Greyson resort amenities access and discounts. The resort member privileges will include golf on the Love course, driving range, resort amenities access and discounts and World Golf Academy discounts.
