Long Drivers of America Set for New Season |
|
The Long Drivers of America (LDA) has announced that its 2008 season will start on February 6-10 with two events, the Desert Launch and Diamond in the Desert Classic. Both events will take place at the Palms Golf Club in Mesquite, Nev., site of the annual RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.
The Desert Launch (DL) is a members-only long-drive event for active LDA members. The competition takes place on February 6 and 7 in two divisions: Open and Senior (45 and up). The entry fee is $600 per player. In addition to prize money, top DL finishers will earn exemptions into the 2008 RE/MAX WLDC finals next fall.
The Diamond in the Desert Classic (DDC) marks the initial qualifying event for the 2008 RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship. DDC competition takes place on February 8-10 in five adult divisions: Open, Senior (45-52), Super Seniors (53-60), Grand Champions (61 and up) and Women. Entry fees are $40 for Open and Senior competitors, $30 for the other three divisions. Players who advance to the DDC finals pay an additional $75 (LDA members) or $125 (non-members).
The DDC is open to amateur and professional golfers alike. LDA membership is not required for participation. Top DDC finishers also earn exemptions into the RE/MAX world finals in October. A complete schedule of events for both the Desert Launch and Diamond in the Desert Classic will be posted on www.longdrivers.com.
