Lake Nona Wins Tavistock Cup

Led by Retief Goosen and Ross Fisher, who both shot 5-under 67s, Lake Nona overtook first-round leader Isleworth in the singles matches Tuesday to win the Tavistock Cup. The two-day exhibition involving four private clubs took place at Lake Nona in Orlando.

Lake Nona finished at 41-under par, while Team Isleworth was at 39-under. Queenwood, a development near London, England, ended up at 31-under and defending champion Albany, a luxury community in The Bahamas, was 26-under.

Other players shooting 67s were Thomas Bjorn of Team Queenswood and Ernie Els of Albany. Tiger Woods played both days of the event. After pairing with Justin Rose in Monday's better-ball format for a 9-under 63, Woods shot an even-par 72 Tuesday.

Woods was forced to withdraw due to a strained left Achilles tendon after hitting his tee shot on the 12th hole in the final round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship two Sundays ago. But it turned out that the injury was minor and he showed no ill effects in the Tavistock Cup.

He's slated to tee it up Thursday in the opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, an event he's won a record six times. If he makes the cut in that it will be seven straight days of golf in his final competition before the Masters in two weeks. Woods is a four-time champion of the Masters, with his last title coming in 2005.
