Knost Receives First McCormack Medal |
|
Colt Knost was presented with the Mark H. McCormack Medal during a ceremony at his home club in Dallas. Knost received the medal from Todd McCormack, son of the late Mark McCormack, founder of the International Management Group (IMG), and Mike Tate, Director of the R&A.
"I am delighted to be the first winner of this award, and to receive it at my home club is something special," said Knost, who won both the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Public Links Championship. "It is the perfect way to sign off my amateur career."
Todd McCormack, presenting the medal on behalf of the McCormack family said: "Colt is worthy winner of this, the first Mark H. McCormack medal awarded by the R&A, and I am sure he will go on to have a long and successful career in the game that my father lived to promote."
Colt Knost was ranked No 1 in the R&A's World Amateur Golf Ranking at the end of Week 38, making him the winner of the award for the 2007 season.
The World Amateur Golf Ranking is produced by R&A Championships Limited as the global eligibility standard for entry into the British Amateur and as a service to amateur golf worldwide. The ranking is a weekly table of playing performance for the world's top 1300 amateur players in 600 ranking events. The R&A's World Amateur Golf Ranking was launched in January 2007 after a two-year trial.
