KemperSports to Manage New Daily-Fee Course in Upstate New York

Pooler Development, a New York-based commercial and residential development company, recently announced the selection of Northbrook, Ill.-based KemperSports to manage The Timber Banks Golf Club, an 18-hole layout, in Lysander, N.Y. The project site is located 15 minutes northwest of Syracuse.
KemperSports is currently providing development and marketing consulting services and will assume operations of the upscale, daily-fee course upon its opening, scheduled for 2009. "Given KemperSports' highly-regarded reputation in course management coupled with its expertise in development and marketing, we are confident that the pieces are in place to create a memorable golf experience," said Bill Price, president of Pooler Development, LLC.
Winding through open fields and wetlands and dotted with mature trees, The Timber Banks Golf Club will mark the first Nicklaus Design project in upstate New York.
The par-72 design will be the centerpiece of The Timbers, an 834-acre residential community along the Seneca River. Inspired by the principles of Traditional Neighborhood Design (TND) – a development movement characterized by pedestrian circulation, intensively used open spaces and a sense of community – the project involves 665 residential units comprised of townhouses, patio homes, single-family and estate homes as well as a marina and nature trials.
"We look forward to working alongside Pooler and Nicklaus Design to establish The Timber Banks as a premier golf club in the market," said KemperSports President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Skinner. "We are pleased to have been selected."
