Golf Season Underway At Shanty Creek Resorts |
|
The golf courses at Shanty Creek Resorts in Bellaire, Mich., are open or are gearing up to open for another season of play. To celebrate the start of the golf season, Shanty Creek will also be hosting a Cinco De Mayo party.
"This season has gotten off to a great start and we're looking to build upon all the excitement from a very eventful 2006," says Brian Kautz, director of golf. "Whether golfers are looking to play a classic course or one of the many modern gems, there is something for everyone at Shanty Creek Resorts."
Four 18-hole courses are on tap at Shanty Creek Resorts:
Summit Golf Club (Open)
Shanty Creek's original course, Summit Golf Club winds through the rolling hills of Antrim County. Designed by Arnold Palmer, this course occupies a whopping 600 acres that encompass holes across mountain ridges and valleys and bypass several water hazards.
Cedar River Golf Club (Open May 4)
Carved out of 500 acres of hardwoods and designed by Tom Weiskopf, this is the longest course and boasts the largest greens at the resort.
Schuss Mountain Golf Club (Open May 4)
This layout brings nature and golfers together for a whole new experience.
To kick off the golf season, Shanty Creek Resorts will be hosting a Cinco De Mayo Party on May 5th from 6-8 p.m. at Ivan's, located at Schuss Village. The party will include a jalapeņo-eating contest, face-painting for children, piņata bursting, and several other fun events. A Mexican-themed buffet is planned.
In addition to 72 golf holes, Shanty Creek Resorts offers 49 downhill ski slopes on two mountains, 30 kilometers of Nordic ski trails, snowboarding and tubing runs. Located on 4,500 acres about 30 miles northeast of Traverse City, Shanty Creek boasts three distinct villages and lodging facilities, dining, live entertainment and a conference and banquet center.
