Golf Fundraiser Slated for L.A.-Area Pediatric Cancer Program

The second-annual Provident Financial Management Golf Classic benefiting the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy will take place Monday, March 9th, at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

The Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program conducts leukemia and cancer research for infants, children, and adolescents at the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, while Nordoff-Robins Music Therapy provides and promotes the skilled use of music with individuals, groups and communities who are challenged by disability, illness or injustice. Funds raised by Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program enable the foundation to receive more support for its research and care, resulting in $8 to $10 in research grants for every dollar raised.

Last year's inaugural event was quite successful, attracting nearly 100 participants and raising $220,000 for "bench-to-bedside" pediatric cancer research in the Bogart labs at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Registration opens at 9:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast and putting contest, followed by a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. The event includes a complimentary barbeque lunch on the ninth hole, and an evening dinner and cocktail party in Sherwood's clubhouse. Attendees may also support the Bogart Foundation through silent and live auctions.

The 2008 auction included tickets to a Hannah Montana taping and a meet-and-greet, week-long stay at an Exclusive Resorts facility. Also offered were guitars signed by musicians Sheryl Crow, Neil Diamond, Hannah Montana and Jimmie Vaughn.

Sponsors this year include Grosvenor Park, City National Bank, Latham & Watkins, Ziffren Brittenham LLP, Gilbert Krupin, and RSM McGladrey.

Individual tickets to the 2009 event start at $2,500. Additional sponsorships are available by calling 323/330-0519 or emailing info@bogartfoundation.org.
