George W. Dunne National to be 2007 U.S Open Local Qualifying Site |

George W. Dunne National Golf Course announced it has been selected by the United States Golf Association (USGA) to host a U.S Open Local Qualifier on May 14, 2007.
The announcement caps a renaissance for a course considered to be among Chicago’s finest public facilities and by top professional and amateur golfers to be an excellent test of championship golf. George W. Dunne National has hosted a number of state, regional and local PGA and USGA events, and will play host to the USGA 2006 Mid-Am Qualifier in August of 2006.
“We are extremely excited to host a prestigious U.S. Open qualifier,” says Jered Wieland, general manager at George Dunne. “We are ecstatic to have received such a positive response from the USGA and we believe George W. Dunne serves as an excellent proving ground for players attempting to gain entry into the U.S Open.”
Recognized by Golf Digest as one the top public courses in the country in the early '90s, George W. Dunne National recently received Golf Chicago! Magazine’s only perfect 10 score in the “Best Golf Value” ratings as based on course conditions, courtesy of staff, and overall value. The 18-hole course is located in southwest suburban Oak Forest, and boasts bentgrass fairways and greens.
George W. Dunne National is operated by Billy Casper Golf.
