Five-Year-Old from Pennsylvania to Receive Bruce Edwards Spirit Award |
|
Friends of the Brown's Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Lakewood Ranch, Fla, is underwriting five-year-old golf Kyle Lograsso's attendance at the PGA Show in Orlando this week. Golf pros who've seen Kyle's natural ability and swing make him a true prodigy.
Kyle and his dad, Jeff, will travel from Pennsylvania to receive the Bruce Edwards Spirit award on Friday, January 18th, bestowed by the Professional Caddies Association. Edwards, Tom Watson's caddie for over 30 years, died after a long battle with ALS.
Young Kyle is no stranger to cancer. While the toddler took an interest in watching the Golf Channel, his parents noticed a white circle around his eye that was later diagnosed as life-threatening. He was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, which affects fewer than 250 children annually. Kyle now lives with a prosthetic eye and continues to play golf.
"Because Kyle is a cancer survivor and a budding golfer, we felt donating his travel and hotel to receive this prestigious award was something we should support and we're looking forward to meeting a truly inspiring child," said Arthur Brown, President of Friends of the Brown's Foundation.
