Fifth Annual Symposium on Affordable Golf Coming to California

The fifth annual Symposium on Affordable Golf will be held at Dairy Creek Golf Course in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on Monday, March 31st and Tuesday, April 1st. Because this year's symposium will be held for the first time in California, topics will include a mix of related topics and the number state's No. 1 issue - water.

Speakers will include Dick Rugge, former technical director of the USGA, Tim Moraghan, Bruce Williams, Ted Horton, and the executive director of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Rhett Evans.

Water topics include "Brown is the New Green? Firm and Fast? or is it Something Else?," "The Folly of Replicating Tournament Conditions," and a case study of the University of New Mexico Golf Course's approach to irrigation.

This year, SOAG will serve as the sectional meeting for the Northern California PGA Section as well as the biannual meeting for the Central California Golf Course Superintendents Association. As in past years, members of the PGA, LPGA and GCSAA will earn continuing education credits for attending the symposium.

What makes the symposium different from other industry conferences is that golfers are an integral part of the discussion. As in years past, the Symposium on Affordable Golf is free to attend for all golfers, who are encouraged to participate in the discussions.
