Fazio Attends Official Grand Opening of His Pronghorn Course |
|
On June 23, members and guests celebrated the official grand opening of the new private Tom Fazio-designed course and its 50,000-square-foot clubhouse at Pronghorn Golf Club in Bend, Ore. Nearly 1,000 turned out as the course and clubhouse were officially introduced to the world.
The celebration began with Fazio leading attendees on a walk of his 7,447-yard, par-72, 18-hole course. During the five-hole presentation, Fazio discussed the design process and how he maximized aesthetics and how each hole plays. Particular attention was paid to the already 8th hole, which features a petrified lava tube that bisects the fairway.
"We are extremely proud of this course," Fazio said. "It is visually stunning and extremely playable with a wonderful variety of strategic holes, settings and experiences. If we had to start from scratch again today, we could only hope to match the course we have produced at Pronghorn."
"The national grand opening was an incredibly important moment for us," said Tom Hix, managing partner of Pronghorn Investors, the project's developer. "Our vision for Pronghorn is finally a reality and we are proud to have built a world class community in one of the most spectacular golf destinations in the world."
