Deutsche Bank Championship Reaches $7 Million Mark for Charity

The Deutsche Bank Championship and its partners have raised a record $2.6 million for New England Charities and the Tiger Woods Learning Center during the 2006 Championship, $1 million more than was raised in 2005. In just four years the PGA Tour event has raised $7 million for local and national charities. In 2007, the tournament becomes one of four events in the high-profile PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup.

The primary beneficiary of the Deutsche Bank Championship is the Tiger Woods Learning Center. In addition, many local New England charities benefit, including Artists for Humanity, G-Row Boston (Girls Row), St. Mary's Women and Children's Center, Young Entrepreneurs Alliance (YEA), Mother Caroline Academy, Nativity Preparatory School, Partners for Youth with Disabilities, Tenacity, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston and Providence, Bottomline, Norton/Attleboro YMCA, Hockomock YMCA, Boston Cares and the Stop & Shop Family Foundation.

In addition to the several charities that galvanize local efforts, the Deutsche Bank Championship also supports other local organizations yea-round through events, live and silent auctions, youth clinics and educational programs. The Deutsche Bank Championship also takes pride in contributing to communities it directly impacts, including the towns of Norton and Mansfield, Mass.

The PGA Tour reached the $1 billion milestone in charitable contributions in 2005. Since the Tour's first recorded donation of $10,000 in 1938, more than 2,000 charities and 1 million people have been helped annually.
