Cowboys Stay atop Poll


Oklahoma State remains the number one team in the second Golf World/Nike Golf Division I Coaches' Poll of the fall season, earning 21 of 23 first-place votes. After a runner-up finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, the Cowboys won by a convincing 22-stroke margin at the Ping/Golfweek Invitational. Three OSU players, Pete Uihlein, Morgan Hoffmann and Trent Whitekiller, finished 1-2-3 in the event.

Rounding out the top five are Arizona State (No. 2), who won at Olympia Fields and was third at the Ping event; Washington (No. 3), who was runner-up to OSU at the Ping event; Florida State (No. 4), who has two victories on the season, the most recent coming at the Gary Koch Invitational; and Stanford (No. 5).

Along with Florida State, Texas (No. 10) moved into the top-10, after being ranked No. 22 in the previous coaches' poll. SMU (No. 15), Michigan (No. 18), Oregon State (No. 21), North Florida (T-23) and Texas Tech (No. 25) moved into the top-25.
