Course at Waterford Texas Completed

Waterford Texas, an exclusive residential and golf community in the Texas Hill Country, has completed its 18-hole, par-72 course.
"Completing construction on Waterford's spectacular golf course marks a significant and exciting milestone for us," said Jimmy Terry, the development's managing partner. "This course, which was so masterfully created by award-winning designers Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell, is destined to be the cornerstone of the community here at Waterford Texas."
Waterford's private course along the banks of Lake Travis stretches 7,350 yards. The layout involves creeks, oak-lined hillsides, and views of Lake Travis. Waterford's course blends the Hill Country's Texas terrain with bent grass greens, Zeon Zoysia fairways, and buffalo roughs.
"Randy Russell and I were thrilled to have the opportunity to design and develop for Waterford what we believe is arguably one of the most beautiful and interesting courses in Texas," said Roy Bechtol of Bechtol & Russell. "With water views from nearly all 18 holes, eye-catching elevated vistas, three holes playing along Lake Travis, five tee boxes at every hole, and a landscape that graciously combines the native Hill Country terrain with the highest-quality grasses, Waterford will provide all players a fun and memorable golfing experience."
Bechtol added that Waterford's golf site was especially unique for the Hill Country because, rather than encountering rock, the site boasted usable soil. While Bechtol credits SEMA Golf's crews for constructing the course, he says the landscape allowed them to "gently lay-in" every hole. "Waterford's fairways, greens and bunkers follow the site's natural rolls, elevations and obstacles to create a course that seems to have existed there for decades," said Bechtol.
In addition to the golf course and club, the development will include a European-style club village designed by Marsh & Associates, a private spa, a full-service marina, tennis, an airpark with an approximately 4,500-foot landing strip, a hike and bike trail system, an equestrian center, and a family sports center.
