|
Jeff Coston of Semiahmoo G&CC in Blaine, Wash., closed out the Rosauers Open Invitational with a flourish, firing a 63 in the final round to win the event for the second time in his career. Coston won $11,000. The event, which boasted a total purse of $135,000, was held at the par-71, 6,255-yard Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane.
Coston’s final round featured eight birdies. Coston, whose previous win came in 1997, finished the three-day tournament at 196. Three shots back at 199 was Chris Griffin of Oakbrook G&CC in Tacoma. Griffin won $7,350.
Professional Lon Hinkle of Eagle Bend GC in Montana, Tim Morton of Prairie Falls GC in Idaho, and amateur Alex Prugh of Manito G&CC in Spokane were in a tie for third at 200. Prugh took home low-amateur honors for the second year in a row.
The victory was Coston’s fourth of the year. He previously captured the Al C. Giusti Memorial Invitational in April, the Senior Players in early June, and the Senior Washington Open Invitational in June.
