CordeValle to Host 2010 Frys.com Open
CordeValle will host the PGA Tour's Frys.com Open October 14-17, 2010. This year's event was held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., and will move to the new venue designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. in San Martin, Calif.
"The layout and location of CordeValle are ideal for a PGA Tour event," said Scott Reid, tournament director for the Frys.com Open. "The course offers a challenging layout that will test the tour pros, and CordeValle's location near major Bay Area cities ensures a spectacular fan turnout."
"We are honored that the PGA Tour has selected CordeValle to host this event," said Alan Campey, Managing Director for CordeValle and Regional Vice President for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the facility's owner. "Our golf course has received numerous accolades throughout the years. However, being awarded to host a Tour event is extremely important because it provides an opportunity for us to give back to the local community through significant charitable donations."
Primary charities of the Frys.com Open for 2010 include: American Institute of Mathematics (AIM), adoption, the World Golf Foundation and South County Charities in San Martin. In addition, the CordeValle Youth Golf Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to helping bring the game of golf to every neighborhood in Santa Clara County, will be a major benefactor the Foundation's focus is to support existing programs that provide children who normally couldn't afford to play golf with instruction, equipment, practice and play opportunities, and most important, mentors.
With its commitment to charitable giving, the Frys.com Open has donated more than $2.2 million dollars to various area charities in the last four years, including $670,500 in 2009.
