Construction Underway on New Del Webb Project near Scottsdale

Work is continuing at Corte Bella Golf Club, Del Webb’s first active adult country club community in the Scottsdale area. The 720-acre development north of Bell Road on Deer Valley Drive, adjacent to Sun City West, will feature a 7,000-yard course designed by Greg Nash and 1,850 homes and villas. Troon Golf will manage the private Corte Bella course, which is slated to open in January 2004.
Lot sales at the gated Del Webb community began in March 2003. Corte Bella’s residential offerings will be surrounded by fountains, flowering courtyards, gated arched entries, and a full complement of amenities that include a fitness and spa complex, tennis facilities, a café and lounge.
“We are pleased to partner with Del Webb in this spectacular and innovative golf community,” stated Troon Golf executive VP of Acquisition & Development, Tim Schantz. “We intend our presence at Corte Bella Golf Club to vitalize the club experiences and preferences for a diverse membership.”
Corte Bella’s golf course will be the centerpiece of an active adult community inspired by Mediterranean villages and the Santa Barbara-style of architecture. The layout will be a departure from the desert and semi-tropical designs of neighboring courses, as stands of Italian Cypress and Aleppo Pines will line the fairways.
“Golf is a vital amenity in the Del Webb community lifestyle,” stated Sam Colgan, vice president, land development of Pulte’s Arizona Active Adult Division, which develops and builds Del Webb branded communities. “At Corte Bella, our intention is to maximize the country club golf experience in a very comfortable setting. Troon Golf enables us to combine the most appreciated traditional country club essentials with our vision of a relaxed and vibrant lifestyle that will make Corte Bella unique to private club operations.”
Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, Troon Golf manages operations at more than 140 clubs located in 26 states and 11 countries. Pulte Homes, Inc., based in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., has operations in more than 44 markets across the U.S. Under its Del Webb brand, the company is the nation’s leading builder of active adult communities for people age 55 and older, having constructed more than 300,000 homes.
