City of San Jose Opens New Course

In mid-April 2002, the city of San Jose unveiled a new 18-hole executive-length golf course. Called Los Lagos Golf Course, the municipal facility is located beside Coyote Creek Golf Course and is readily accessible off the Capitol Expressway.
The par-68 layout stretches 5,393 yards from the tips. When it debuted on April 15th, the facility opened with a lighted, two-tiered driving range. As part of the project the city helped move the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley to a new location at Penitencia Creek Park because the center's previous facility occupied the new 14th hole.
The course was designed by J. Michael Poellot of JMP Golf Design Group, based in Saratoga, Calif. Owned by the San Jose Parks & Recreation Department, the layout was built by Heinbuch Golf Construction of Canyon Lake, Calif. Call 408/361-0250 for more information or a tee time.
