Champions Tour Event in Mississippi Delayed

After four inches of rain deluged the Fallen Oak course on Thursday, canceling the scheduled pro-am, the start of Friday's first round of the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic was pushed back to 2:30 p.m. because of the wet conditions.

Because of the delay, it's likely the opening round in the $1.6 million Champions Tour event will be finished Saturday morning before the start of the second round. The weather for the Biloxi, Miss., area is expected to improve over the weekend.

In addition to defending champion Tom Lehman, the tournament features Fred Couples, Kenny Perry and Loren Roberts, who won last week's Toshiba Classic in California.
