Cavalleri Upsets Ochoa

Silvia Cavalleri became the first winner in LPGA Tour history from Italy, closing with a 7-under 66 for a two-stroke victory in the Corona Morelia Championship in Morelia, Mexico.

Cavalleri's final-round fireworks came at the expense of the LPGA Tour's newly-crowned No. 1-ranked player and hometown heroine, Lorena Ochoa, and Paraguay's Julieta Granada.

Cavalleri finished with a 20-under 272 total in the 72-hole event at the Tres Marias course. She earned $195,000 for the win.

Cavalleri had seven birdies in her bogey-free final round, which occurred in a light rain. Ochoa, the 2006 winner, and Granada both carded 68s.
